Job Description:

Summary:

The American University Career Center and AU Abroad are seeking two Digital Assets & Content Creators (Designers) to help develop engaging visual content that promotes programs, resources, events, student success stories, and experiential learning opportunities.

This position is ideal for students interested in graphic design, digital marketing, social media, branding, communications, photography, and visual storytelling. The selected students will contribute to creative campaigns while gaining hands-on experience in higher education marketing and communications.

Essential Functions:

  • Design graphics, social media posts, stories, digital signage, and other promotional materials.

  • Assist with content development for Instagram, LinkedIn, newsletters, websites, and other digital communication platforms.

  • Create print and digital marketing materials.

  • Photograph AU Career Center and AU Abroad events, workshops, and student activities.

  • Develop visual content that highlights student success stories, experiential learning, and campus engagement.

  • Assist with updating and organizing digital assets while maintaining brand consistency across all communications.

  • Contribute creative ideas to enhance student engagement and outreach campaigns.

  • Collaborate with staff and student team members on a variety of communications and design projects.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • 8 - 10 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $19.50 - $20.00 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Strong written and visual communication skills.

  • Experience with Adobe CC, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop; willingness to learn additional Adobe CC applications and other design software as needed.

  • Familiarity with Instagram, LinkedIn, and emerging social media platforms.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to incorporate feedback while adapting content to office best practices.

  • Commitment to maintaining American University branding and visual identity standards.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Federal Work-Study (FWS) students encouraged to apply.

  • Junior or Senior undergraduate standing preferred.

  • Experience creating content for social media platforms.

  • Basic photography and/or video editing skills.

  • Interest in marketing, communications, graphic design, journalism, public relations, or a related field.

  • Portfolio or work samples demonstrating graphic design, branding, or digital content creation are preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Location: In-Person in the Career Center office.

  • Candidates must be available to begin working during the first week of the Fall 2026 semester.
