Job description

Title: Engineer (Electrical)
Reports to: Project Manager
Location: Office in Hackensack, NJ preferred, but we are open to having this candidate report to Flanders or Wall, NJ
Salary Range: $90,000 โ€“ $115,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

Brief Description:

Under minimal direction, serves as an Electrical specialist for the Water and Wastewater, Land Development, Parks and Recreation, and Gas Utility Departments. Candidates shall have a thorough understanding and working knowledge of applicable local, county, and state rules, regulations and industry practices. Familiarity with public bidding procedures and Local Public Contracts Law (N.J.S.A. 40A:11-1 et seq. and N.J.A.C. 5:34) is necessary. Duties include the development of standard professional electrical engineering design deliverables including performing engineering calculations, engineered drawings and documents, equipment specification, construction support, functional checkout support, and system commissioning support. Must have proven ability to organize and prioritize assigned work and develop effective work methods. The successful candidate will be a critical team member on complex design projects and will demonstrate excellent leadership and mentoring skills to ensure efficient project delivery and promote a positive constructive work culture. Project Management and communication skills are critical to the successful integration to our team.

Schedule:

Candidate can expect to work approximately 100% of their week in the Hackensack, NJ office (hybrid arrangements will be reviewed following 90 days of employment). Company hours are Monday โ€“ Friday, 8am to 5pm.

This position generally works standard business hours, Monday through Friday. However, occasional site visits, field work, client meetings, or business-related events may be scheduled outside of normal working hours. Flexibility in schedule is required to meet business and client needs.

Examples of work/duties:
  • Actively manages technical project components as well as schedule and budget review and understanding. Serves as the technical client liaison to bring the technical project components and scope of work to successful completion and to the clientโ€™s satisfaction.
  • Performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications, and plan preparation to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects.
  • Perform load calculations, circuit and conductor sizing calculations, protective device coordination studies, Arc Flash calculations, etc.
  • Develop equipment data sheets, bill of materials, submittal reviews and approvals, etc.
  • Coordinates work efforts and reviews of work performed by design staff. Supervises and mentors design team to overall project objectives.
  • Develops innovative project approach and assists in the organization and preparation of proposals.
  • Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization and projects.
  • Assists in the development of standards and guidelines for team implementation.
  • Responsible for maintaining licensure and keeping up with industry standards and software.

  • Possess a valid driverโ€™s license.
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in appropriate area of study โ€“ Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • PE License.
  • 4-8+ Years of related experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of NFPA 70, 70E, 110, and 780 requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with:
    • 0-4160V applications
    • AutoCAD (specifically MEP and Electrical), Plant 3D, and/or REVIT
    • Arc Flash, ETAP, and SKM
    • 120V-480V single and three phase power infrastructure and affiliated backup power
    • Pump Control Integration experience preferred
    • Lighting Control experience preferred
