Project Manager
Shermco, the largest independent electrical testing NETA company in North America, has an immediate need for a full time Project Manager in the Irving, TX area.
Position Summary
Shermco is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager / PMO Lead to provide operational leadership for a team of Project Managers within our Engineering Services business. This role is responsible for overseeing a diverse portfolio of electrical engineering, reliability, retrofit, modernization, and power systems projects ranging from small engineering studies to multi-million-dollar programs executed over multiple years.
Service Lines Supported
  • Power System Studies (Arc Flash, Coordination, Short Circuit, Load Flow, Harmonic, Motor Starting, FEED and related studies).
  • Drives & VFD Services (troubleshooting, repair, startup, commissioning, controls integration, preventative maintenance, emergency support).
  • Projects & Retrofits (switchgear, transformers, protection and control upgrades, brownfield retrofits, EPC-style projects, emergency recovery, modernization projects).

Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5-6 Project Managers.
  • Provide oversight for 100+ active projects annually across multiple service lines.
  • Conduct portfolio reviews, resource planning reviews, and project health assessments.
  • Monitor project schedules, deliverables, milestones, customer commitments, and risks.
  • Lead weekly and monthly WIP reviews and project financial reviews in Business Central.
  • Monitor revenue recognition, backlog, forecasting, utilization, margin performance, and billing.
  • Identify scope creep and drive change-order management.
  • Ensure project planning lines, forecasts, and schedules remain accurate and current.
  • Serve as senior escalation point for key customer engagements.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, subcontractor, and field-service activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement and PM best practices.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of project management experience.
  • 5+ years managing complex electrical, industrial, utility, engineering, or EPC projects.
  • Previous experience leading project managers or project teams.
  • Experience managing projects ranging from $10k studies to $5M+ capital projects.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Business Central, WIP methodologies, revenue recognition, forecasting, and project controls preferred.

Requirements:
  • Pass pre-employment drug test, and periodic unannounced drug tests.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check with 7 year history.

  • Take and pass 30 hour OSHA training.
  • Ability to work in a field environment subject to changing outdoor conditions.
  • Work overtime as needed and willingness to travel to client work locations. Roughly 30% travel expected.
  • Must be able to fluently speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be flexible and willing to travel overnight for various projects.
