About Phoenix Laser

With 5 locations spread out across the Midwest,Phoenix Laser Solutions is the largest YAG laser weld house in North America!We use Laser Welding, TIG Welding, and Cladding to repair, modify and assemble various components, from injection molding dies to Aerospace and Medical devices. By using the latest technology available to additive manufacturing and conventional welding we can achieve surface enhancements that are impossible for most welding houses.We are now hiring a Controls Engineer, where you will receive generous pay and benefits in addition to locking up a stable career with advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities and Duties


  • Review sales and engineering information with the automation project team. Check time and material budget.

  • Using input from the project design team (sales estimate, production requirements, customer requirements), work collaboratively with the automation project team to define suitable system architectures for custom automation equipment. The architecture will include proper selection of a system controller, input and output hardware, motion control components, and safety interlocks.

  • Implement the use of AutoCAD LT creating schematics and bill of materials with respect to NEC, and NFPA standards

  • Work collaboratively with the automation project team to create software applications and configuration files for all programmable devices within the architecture of the laser automated systems. This includes PLC logic, motion controllers, robotics, and vision guidance.

  • Review drawings prior to releasing to manufacturing. Make sure they coincide with mechanical design and customer requirements.

  • Make sure drawings are functional for efficient electrical assembly

  • Travel to customer's facility for install and field service.

  • Assist shop personnel where needed in debugging equipment.

Experience


  • 4-year technical degree and/or 5 years of controls engineering related experience.

  • Communication skills.

  • Rockwell Studio 5000, Codesys, and Cognex programming is preferred.

  • Robotics and vision are preferred but not required.

  • Familiar with sizing electrical actuators and drives.

  • Design and implementation of custom automated production systems.
