Job description

Reporting to the School Store Manager, the School Store Assistant will help with processing store transactions, including filling on-line orders for campus pick-up and shipping on-line orders, and restocking the store. This is a 10-month, part-time position with a few evening and weekend hours during the academic year for special events, with an average of twenty-five (25) hours per week. The schedule would be Monday through Friday, with core hours as 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, with the remaining hours to be determined based on store and merchandise delivery schedule.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Process store transactions (in-person sales and on-line sales). These transactions will include store purchases billed to student accounts, and cash/credit transactions
  • Operate the POS System used by the School Store
  • Re-stock and reorganize inventory as needed
  • Receive, unpack, store, display, etc. all new merchandise for the store
  • Communicate with the Store Manager on inventory needs, especially food, for weekly orders
  • Communicate with students, employees, parents, and alumni as needed
  • Support School Store Manager in fulfilling Department orders and merchandise requests
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Some weekend work (e.g., special events) is required
  • Some heavy lifting is to be expected

QUALIFICATIONS

Specific skill sets and qualifications required are:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for working in a school environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including enthusiastic and upbeat customer service skills
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Training and/or experience in retail and using POS software is valued
  • Able to lift/move heavy boxes
