Job description

Data Analyst

The Opportunity:
As data analyst, you love diving into data and turning it into meaningful insights. With the abundance of structured and unstructured data, you understand the importance of transforming complex data sets into useful information to solve challenges. As a data analyst at Booz Allen, you can use your skills and experience to support a mission and use data for good. We need a data expert like you to bring your expertise to the Navy to understand their data and support Fleet readiness.

As a client-facing data analyst embedded with a DOW client, you'll work closely with our customers to understand their data questions and then dig into their data-rich environments and tools to find the pieces of their information puzzle. Not only will you provide a deep understanding of their data, but you'll also advise the client on what the information means by developing decision-making support visualization products and dashboards to help translate data into recommendations. You will use automation tools and scripts to streamline data processing and reporting.

What You'll Work On:

  • Provide clear, timely data analysis and trend insights for leadership in a fast paced environment and preparing written analysis.

  • Analyze data across various subject areas to develop a complete data picture for non-technical leadership and clients.

  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure data is accessible and organized to support analysis, trend forecasting and alerting needs.

  • Research, develop, and test data methodologies, and generate cross-functional solutions through collection, interpretation, evaluation, and analysis of large data sets.

  • Establish quantitative/qualitative metrics and key performance indicators to drive decision-making.

  • Create visualizations and dashboards, such as graphs, tables, and maps, across multiple platforms to communicate findings effectively.

  • Produce recurring and rapid-turnaround reports and analysis, including responses to high-priority leadership and congressional requests, across multiple office branches to ensure a holistic understanding and facilitate informed decision-making.

  • Engage directly with clients to understand their evolving needs, communicate findings clearly, and provide actionable recommendations. Adapt to client feedback and requests, fostering strong professional relationships and supporting informed decision-making at all organizational levels.

Join us. The world can't wait.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis or data visualization

  • Experience in quantitative data analysis, performance measurement, data cleansing, metrics evaluation, and applied research

  • Experience executing projects and tasks independently, including large-scale initiatives

  • Experience leading discussions about data products, sources, and projects with executive leadership

  • Ability to identify and analyze data sets to meet customer requirements and translate complex findings into clear narratives for non-technical audiences

  • Ability to be organized, multi-task, and respond quickly to urgent requests

  • Ability to work closely with executive leadership on large data projects and communicate effectively via email and phone

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Law, Engineering, Social Sciences, Physical Science, Applied Science, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or Management

Nice If You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience with data analysis or data visualization with Power BI, Excel, or Tableau preferred

  • Experience with data querying and manipulation using SQL or similar tools

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
