Job Description

Position Title: Physical Therapist (Part-Time)
Schedule: One (1) day per week
Location: Wakefield Public Schools
Reports To: Director of Special Education and Student Services

Position Summary

Wakefield Public Schools is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to provide school-based physical therapy services one day per week. The Physical Therapist will provide services to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), supporting students' access to the educational environment through both direct and consultative services. Services may be delivered in both push-in (classroom-based) and pull-out settings based on student needs.

Qualifications
  • Current Massachusetts licensure as a Physical Therapist.
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Experience working with pediatric populations and/or within a school setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, special education regulations, and IEP development preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct physical therapy services to students in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) through both push-in and pull-out service delivery models.
  • Evaluate students' gross motor skills, functional mobility, and physical access to the educational environment, and complete evaluations and re-evaluations as needed.
  • Develop recommendations to support students' participation, independence, and access to school activities.
  • Collaborate with special education staff, classroom teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to implement effective interventions and accommodations.
  • Participate in IEP Team meetings and contribute to the development of student goals and service recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, service logs, progress reports, and evaluation reports in compliance with state and federal special education regulations.
  • Consult with school staff regarding positioning, mobility, adaptive equipment, and strategies to support student success across educational settings.
