Job description

Position Overview

New Horizon Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. This position directly focuses on providing critical mental health support to our geriatric population through telehealth services. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of experience and demonstrate a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by seniors.

Work Environment

This role is fully remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements while maintaining regular hours. You will be part of a dynamic telehealth team, using technology to ensure seamless communication and support for our clients. The infrastructure we utilize promotes collaborative care, ensuring that you have access to all the resources necessary to deliver effective counseling from the comfort of your home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying their specific emotional and psychological needs.
  • Provide both individual and group counseling sessions that address a range of challenges, including grief, anxiety, and adjustment disorders.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to formulate and implement tailored care plans for our geriatric residents.
  • Educate families and caregivers on effective communication strategies and interventions to enhance the well-being of elderly individuals.
  • Administer grief counseling to support residents and their families through end-of-life issues.
  • Design and implement cognitive stimulation programs and other mental health interventions aimed at improving mental acuity and social engagement among seniors.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This position specifically targets seniors facing various mental health challenges, including those related to aging, loss, and significant life transitions. You'll be working with a diverse elder clientele, addressing the emotional complexities of their experiences with compassion and cultural sensitivity.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution or university.
  • A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
  • A minimum of four years of hands-on experience providing mental health counseling to geriatric clients.
  • Expertise in evidence-based therapeutic techniques for aging-related mental health issues.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with elderly clients and their families.
  • Capability to conduct thorough assessments and develop customized treatment plans.
Preferred Experience
  • Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health.
  • Experience using telehealth platforms and engaging elderly clients in a virtual setting.
  • Awareness of legal and ethical standards pertinent to geriatric mental health counseling.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 65,000 to 95,000, commensurate with experience and expertise, along with the opportunity for a sign-on bonus. Our benefits package includes:
