Job description

Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Accountant to work in our Downtown Los Angeles.  Under the general supervision of the Sr. Accounting Manager, this position is responsible for reconciliations, journal entries, monthly bank reconciliations and preparation of audit roll forward schedules.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Four (4) year degree in accounting and at least two (2) years in general accounting; OR
  • At least six (6) years of general accounting experience including journal entry preparation and account reconciliation.
  • Understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Intermediate Excel skills required.
  • At least one year of direct experience working with ERP systems.
  • Reliable means of transportation for onsite and offsite work within Los Angeles County.
About the Position:
  • Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers, and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations, and by all PPLA employees. Supporting these critical services is an essential job duty, and a fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.
  • Initiate preparation of journal entries for monthly and yearly financial statements. 
  • Manage monthly reconciliation and maintenance of lease schedules.
  • Manage monthly reconciliation and maintenance of balance sheet accounts.
  • Audit and maintain monthly bank reconciliation to assigned accounts including but not limited to clinics deposits, cash receipts, and rental income.
  • Support Billing department with input of journal entries as necessary.
  • Provide back-up support for daily cash report and cash log.
  • Responsible for preparation of audit roll forward schedules including but not limited to cash schedule.
  • Collaborate with appropriate departments to resolve any discrepancies that may arise during ongoing reconciliation.
  • Support special projects and other ad-hoc accounting tasks as needed
  • Identify areas of opportunities and provide improvements for current account processes.
