Job description

Ireland’s Four Provinces is a busy, full-service restaurant and bar, with a large outdoor patio, indoor dining room, and both indoor and outdoor bars. We are hiring for a full-time food runner who has open availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays. We currently open at 2pm Monday through Thursday, 11:30 Friday, and at 10am Saturday and Sunday.

A food runner serves as an intermediary between customers and the kitchen staff. The runner ensures that all food is delivered to the correct guest in a timely and efficient manner. This is a position that requires the individual to be both an independent decision-maker and a team player simultaneously. You must have excellent communication skills, the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced setting, and maintain composure during stressful situations

There are several responsibilities to fulfill as a food runner, which include:

  • Serve as point of contact between front-of-house and back-of-house.
  • Maintain the pass' cleanliness and stock, support chefs with plates and serving utensils, and ticket times.
  • Check plates for cleanliness and defective pieces.
  • Ensure all plates leaving the kitchen were prepared in adherence to any dietary restriction or food allergy noted on the order ticket.
  • Ensure all plates leaving the kitchen meet chef’s standards for presentation, freshness, and temperature.
  • Ensure no dish leaves the kitchen unless it is part of a complete order to ensure courses are delivered completely and simultaneously.
  • Memorize table and seat numbers for every dish leaving the kitchen.
  • Run food from pass to tables.
  • Assist servers as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards throughout the kitchen and restaurant.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 25 pounds, bending and reaching.
