Position Overview

This position serves as a key liaison between XML schema development for the Federal Register and Congressional Record and the XPub Horseshoe application used by PrePress staff to create, edit, and publish XML documents. Specific activities include but are not limited to:

Core Responsibilities

  • Improving the user experience and workflow for document editors, ensuring Horseshoe effectively supports XML markup, validation, and correction activities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, XML schema developers, and software engineers to translate publishing requirements into intuitive application functionality while leveraging knowledge of XML technologies, document publishing workflows, and enterprise web applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Blazor, C#, LINQ-to-XML, and REST-based architectures is highly desirable

Minimum Requirements:

  • HTML5 experience
  • Advanced Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) experience
    • Parameterized CSS that can be modified by the application at runtime
    • Control over CSS scope
  • Web design experience
    • Experience designing web-based user interfaces that are intuitive and easy to use
    • Graphic design skills
    • Ability to translate requirements into user interface designs
    • Experience designing complex web applications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science recommended, but not required
  • Experience: 5+ years recent experience as a Senior Developer
  • Technical Proficiency: CSS, HTML5, UI design, XML content creation, XML Schema

Preferred Expertise:

  • Experience with XML syntax
  • Experienced at creating XML documents that conform to an established schema or DTD (DITA / DocBook / MIL-Specs / etc.)
  • Experienced with the Telerik suite of web controls for Blazor applications
  • Experience designing web sites with Microsoft Blazor
