Location: Southeast Region (Travel Required)
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: Up to $40.00/hour (based on experience)
Per Diem: $110/day, paid 7 days per week for qualified travelers
Vehicle & Cell Phone Allowance: $475/month

Job Overview

Skillforce is currently seeking experienced Structural Steel & Precast Erection Superintendents to lead commercial and light industrial construction projects throughout the Southeast. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for a proven field leader with extensive steel erection experience, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and production.

The Superintendent will oversee all field operations, coordinate crews and subcontractors, manage project schedules, and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently from project kickoff through final completion. This position requires frequent travel and the ability to lead multiple aspects of steel and precast erection projects in dynamic construction environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage all field operations for structural steel and precast erection projects
  • Lead field crews, subcontractors, and site personnel from mobilization through project completion
  • Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and company standards
  • Monitor daily production, manpower utilization, and project progress
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, reports, and project records
  • Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and enforce all company and site-specific safety requirements
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, engineers, and inspectors to maintain project schedules
  • Identify and resolve jobsite challenges, delays, and productivity issues
  • Verify quality standards are met throughout all phases of construction
  • Oversee equipment usage, material staging, and overall jobsite organization
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of structural steel erection experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in a Superintendent, Foreman, or similar leadership role
  • Strong understanding of structural steel and precast erection methods, procedures, and safety practices
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, erection plans, and construction documents
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage crews, schedules, and project priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Southeast for extended project assignments
  • OSHA 10 certification required
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment screenings, including drug testing, background check, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review
