Job description

Job Title: Tax Manager (Remote)

Job Type: Full-Time, Year-Round

Location: Remote (U.S.-based)

Experience Required: 10+ years

About Us

Mehdiani Financial Management is a growing Beverly Hills-based accounting and tax firm serving high-net-worth individuals, executives, business owners, professionals, and companies across many industries such as e-commerce, real estate, medical, legal, consulting, marketing, recruiting, insurance, and other professional services.

We are a close-knit, small team that values excellent work, honest guidance, responsive client service, and continuous improvement. As our firm continues to grow, we are strengthening our systems, expanding our leadership team, and creating opportunities for talented professionals to grow with us.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Tax Manager who wants meaningful client responsibility, technical variety, remote flexibility, and the opportunity to advance within a growing firm.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly capable Tax Manager to manage complex client relationships, review tax returns, provide tax planning, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the year.

This is not a purely back-office review role. The right person will be comfortable communicating directly with clients, managing deadlines, identifying planning opportunities, and explaining tax matters clearly and professionally.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, organized, honest, efficient, and able to work independently while collaborating with the team when needed. This role requires someone who can manage a meaningful workload with accuracy and composure, especially during the high-volume tax season.

This is a full-time, remote position with extended hours during tax season, generally March, April, September, and October.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients and build strong, long-term relationships.

  • Review complex individual, business, fiduciary, and entity tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and 1041.

  • Manage clients with complex tax needs, including high-net-worth individuals, executives, business owners, multi-entity structures, and clients with multi-state activity.

  • Provide proactive tax planning, projections, and strategic recommendations throughout the year.

  • Lead client tax meetings, planning discussions, and follow-up communications.

  • Identify tax issues, planning opportunities, compliance risks, and ways to improve the client experience.

  • Review work prepared by tax preparers and provide clear, constructive feedback.

  • Mentor team members and help maintain high standards for quality and efficiency.

  • Assist with IRS and state tax notices, correspondence, and audit support.

  • Prepare or review sales tax, payroll tax, and other business tax filings as needed.

  • Help improve internal workflows, client communication, and firm-wide efficiency.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of tax experience, including significant review experience with complex individual and business tax returns.

  • Strong technical knowledge of individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, fiduciary, and multi-state tax matters.

  • Experience serving high-net-worth individuals, executives, business owners, and professional service clients.

  • Strong client-facing skills and the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly.

  • Ability to manage a client book independently while collaborating with partners and team members when needed.

  • Excellent judgment, attention to detail, organization, and commitment to accurate and honest work.

  • Comfortable working remotely in a fast-paced, growing firm environment.

  • CPA or EA preferred but not required.

  • Experience with California tax filings is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Drake, QuickBooks Online, and cloud-based practice tools is a plus.

  • Availability for extended hours and some weekends during tax season.

What We Offer

  • Remote work arrangement for U.S.-based candidates.

  • Flexible scheduling outside of peak tax season.

  • A growing firm with meaningful opportunities for advancement.

  • Direct involvement with a diverse and sophisticated client base.

  • Collaborative team culture built on respect, honesty, and continuous improvement.

  • Opportunity to help shape firm processes, workflows, and client service standards.

  • Competitive compensation package, including performance-based bonus opportunities.

  • 401(k), health insurance, and paid time off.

  • A role where strong performance, ownership, and leadership can lead to quick growth.
