Job Description:
Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring accuracy and completeness of patient registration and billing data after the clinical encounter. Provides expertise in reviewing, correcting, and submitting claims to support timely and accurate reimbursement. Coordinates with patients, payers, and internal departments to collect missing information, resolve data errors, and reduce denials. Contributes to process improvements, mentors staff and supports revenue cycle performance by maintaining compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
Essential Functions
• Maintains a queue or worklist of accounts flagged for registration or billing follow-up.
• Independently review and correct claims and charge errors rejected, denied, or suspended due to registration or data issues.
• Contacts patients to collect or clarify workers' compensation, accident, or insurance details including claim numbers, employer, or authorization information.
• Documents communications, tracks responses, and updates patient account records with accuracy.
• Coordinates with employers, insurance carriers, attorneys, or adjusters to obtain required documentation.
• Verifies and obtains subrogation or third-party liability information to support accurate billing.
• Meets departmental KPIs for claim resolution, registration completeness, denial reduction, and accounts receivable performance.
• Collaborates with registration, billing, clinical, coding, and customer service teams to ensure seamless information flow.
• Provides feedback to frontline registration staff to reduce recurring data entry errors.
• Participates in process improvement initiatives to enhance registration and billing accuracy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirement: 2-3 years of experience in patient access, registration, billing, or revenue cycle operations
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
