Remote (U.S.) | Preference for candidates in the Southwest or Mountain Time Zone to align with the client's New Mexico-based team. Duration: 6-Month Contract with Potential Extension/Conversion Potential Openings: 1-2 Resources Interview Process: One-Step Virtual Interview with GIS Manager Position Overview Our utility client is seeking up to two GIS Analysts to support a major GIS modernization initiative as they transition from ESRI Geometric Network to Utility Network. These analysts will provide day-to-day GIS support while the client's internal team focuses on system conversion activities, utility network implementation, and capital projects. This role requires a candidate who can quickly understand existing GIS workflows, perform data maintenance and editing activities, and support ongoing utility network efforts within a natural gas utility environment. Top Required Skills 1. Gas Utility GIS Experience Candidates must have experience supporting GIS activities within a natural gas utility environment and understand utility assets, infrastructure, and related workflows. 2. ESRI Utility Network Experience Experience working with Utility Network is required. The team is actively transitioning from Geometric Network to Utility Network and needs resources who can contribute immediately within the new environment. 3. ArcGIS Pro Experience Candidates must have hands-on experience using ArcGIS Pro for GIS editing, data maintenance, data validation, and quality assurance activities. Responsibilities Perform daily GIS editing and maintenance activities within ArcGIS Pro Support ongoing Utility Network initiatives and data management efforts Maintain and update transmission system GIS data Validate GIS data and perform quality assurance/quality control reviews Identify and resolve data quality issues and network-related errors Support updates associated with evolving GIS database schemas and data models Collaborate with GIS team members, project stakeholders, and external partners Participate in bi-weekly GIS team meetings and monthly IT/GIS meetings Follow established GIS workflows and documentation standards Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting a Geometric Network to Utility Network migration Gas transmission mapping experience ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Server experience Understanding of GIS database schema and utility data models Experience supporting GIS upgrades, architecture efforts, or system modernization initiatives Experience resolving Utility Network data validation or tracing issues Soft Skills Strong communication skills Ability to ask questions and seek clarification when needed Strong attention to detail Ability to work independently in a remote environment Collaborative team-oriented mindset Additional Information Fully remote opportunity Preference for candidates within a few time zones of New Mexico, though all U.S. locations will be considered Training and knowledge transfer will be provided by tenured GIS team members Background check required Initial project expected to run approximately 6 months with potential for extension Potential future conversion opportunity based on business needs and performance Recruiter Note: This is not a general GIS Analyst position.
