Job description

Position Overview


We are seeking a CWB Level 2 Welding Inspector to support an upcoming turnaround project in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing quality inspections on welding and related construction activities, ensuring all work complies with project specifications, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. This position offers competitive rates based on experience and qualifications.


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform daily quality inspections of welding, pipeline, facility, mechanical, and turnaround activities.
  • Verify compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate and witness quality testing activities, including NDE, hydrostatic testing, and material verification.
  • Ensure materials are properly documented, traceable, and compliant prior to installation.
  • Maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), including hold points, witness points, and client inspections.
  • Identify non-conformances and assist with corrective actions.
  • Verify weld documentation, material traceability, and turnover records.
  • Prepare inspection reports, quality documentation, and project closeout packages.
  • Participate in client, regulatory, and third-party inspections and audits.


Qualifications & Experience


  • CWB Welding Inspector Level 2 certification is required.
  • Current CSTS, WHIMIS2015, H2S Alive, First Aid, and other industry-required safety certifications.
  • Experience performing quality inspections on pipeline, facility, industrial, oil and gas, or turnaround projects.
  • Strong knowledge of welding inspection, construction quality processes, NDE, pressure testing, and material traceability.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with CSA, ASME, API, and client quality standards is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality reporting systems.
