Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Perform simultaneous operations safely on multiple equipment/processes within the Cell to move product in a one-piece flow from one operation to another.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following:

  • Perform simultaneous operations safely on multiple equipment/processes within the Cell to move product in a one-piece flow from one operation to another (will NOT be dedicated to one machine or process)
    • Not inclusive of all possible operations in a Lean Cell, but may be responsible for maintaining production throughput (setup, operate, troubleshoot) on Manual Surface Grinders, CNC ID/OD Grinders, Manual or CNC Jig Grinders, CNC Wire EDM, EDM Drill, CNC Vertical Machining Centers, Polishing, Inspection devices/CMM
  • Setup and maintain equipment/processes to meet part print specifications EVERY time
    • Must Stop and Fix the problem when out of spec
  • Must be able to work effectively with other Cell Team members to meet the production requirement of finished product output from Cell
    • Share working knowledge you may have of operations/processes not assigned for you to do
    • Be able to cross-train and eventually be proficient at all operations/processes in the Cell
  • Where CNC equipment/processes are in the Cell, be able to pull programs, validate program to print, make offsets, adjust/change tooling, including de-bugging new programs
  • Perform First Piece and In-Process inspections to meet drawing specifications, using quality measuring instruments, documenting data as required
  • Track and post Key Performance and Key Behavioral Indicators visually at the Cell
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years on-the-job experience and/or certification from appropriate vocational school, prefer can tooling experience
  • Efficient experience in a minimum of two operations/processes in the cell
  • Willingness to be cross-trained and maintain simultaneous flow through running multiple operations/processes
  • Demonstrates ability to read and understand blueprints, GD&T symbols/dimensioning
  • Must be able to understand shop math, apply geometry and trigonometry as applicable to each operation/process
  • Demonstrates ability to follow basic verbal and/or written instructions
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability and actively work in a team environment, which includes communicating effectively with team members and support staff, being self-motivated, accepting responsibility for one’s own work
  • Flexibility to learn, grow your abilities and knowledge on other equipment
  • Ability to operate safely multiple machines


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work schedule generally consists of 50 hours per week plus additional overtime as required
  • Ability to regularly lift/ maneuver up to 50 lbs.
