What does a woodworking assistant do?

A Woodworking Assistant supports skilled woodworkers by preparing materials, operating basic machinery, and maintaining a clean and organized workshop. They may help with measuring, cutting, sanding, assembling wooden pieces, and finishing products under supervision. This role is ideal for those looking to develop hands-on skills in carpentry and woodworking while learning from experienced professionals.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a woodworking assistant?

A Woodworking Assistant should possess basic carpentry skills, manual dexterity, and an understanding of woodworking techniques, often supported by a high school diploma or vocational training. Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment is crucial, and OSHA certification is sometimes preferred.
