Shop Assistant – General Woodworker

Sonoran Doors | Phoenix, AZ
Full-Time | Entry Level


Job Summary


Sonoran Doors is looking for a dependable, hardworking Shop Assistant to join our custom woodworking and millwork team.


This is an entry-level, hands-on position focused on sanding and preparing custom wood doors and millwork, maintaining an organized shop, assisting our craftsmen, and helping with deliveries.

No professional woodworking experience is required. We are looking for someone who is reliable, enjoys working with their hands, and is interested in learning the woodworking and millwork trade.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Sand, grind, and prepare custom wood doors and millwork
  • Inspect wood surfaces for cracks, defects, or imperfections
  • Correct minor defects and prepare products for finishing
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and accurately
  • Read basic shop drawings, measurements, and work instructions
  • Perform light woodworking and assembly
  • Assist craftsmen with production as needed
  • Move, load, and unload doors, lumber, and other materials
  • Assist with preparing and making deliveries
  • Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized
  • Help maintain a clean and orderly shop
  • Properly care for tools and equipment
  • Follow all company safety procedures
  • Assist in other areas of the shop as needed
