Woodwind instruments are a family of musical instruments that produce sound when a player blows air through or across an opening, causing air to vibrate within a tube. Common examples include the flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, and saxophone. These instruments can be made from wood, metal, or other materials, and they are known for their rich and varied tones. Woodwinds are commonly used in orchestras, bands, and a variety of musical genres.
