Job description

American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 400+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 2nd Shift Packaging Machine Operator role in our Schofield, WI facility.

JOB SUMMARY

The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for working in a safe, efficient manner to maximize hands-on production and shipping of wood shavings.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. SAFETY
    • Attend monthly safety meetings
    • Wear PPE as required
    • Attend trainings as needed and complete required testing with sufficient results
  2. PRODUCTION
    • Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner producing packaged materials for AWF customers
    • Confers with shift supervisor and follows through with assigned work duties
    • Assist with cleaning up work area
    • Place an empty bag on the fill tube, seal, place in master pack, and hand palletize (up to 40 lbs.)
  3. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
    • Perform outside duties to include sweeping, picking up debris, watering flowers and shrubbery, shoveling snow, and deicing walkways as required
  4. QUALITY
    • Maintain and verify that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Physical capability to bend, squat, or stoop
  • Previous mobile equipment and/or forklift preferred

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly
  • Ability to respond quickly to sounds
  • Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
  • Ability to work in extreme weather
  • Be able to climb stairs and/or ladder to the stacking station areas
  • Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly
  • Candidate MUST be able to work in a smoke-free environment
