Job description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is searching for an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician with experience in the oil and gas industry.

Work schedule of 14x14 with a work terminal out of Houma, LA.

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.

  • Supervises "B" electrical technicians and I&E techs for safe and efficient operations, as well as, assist with technical problems where needed.
  • Troubleshoots breakdowns, diagnoses faults and executes repairs; Refers problems to the supervisor; Maintains good housekeeping at the work site and ensure tools and equipment are kept in good working order.
  • Assit the Lead Operators in all electrical activities including safety and compliance regulations.
  • Capable of maintaining electrical/instrumentation equipment on the entire facility.
  • Capable of inventory parts and supplies when needed.
  • Participate in all announce/unannounced inspections (such as BSEE).
  • Adheres to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot problems with Omni/PLC system and HMI software.
  • Receives daily instructions, as well as, obtains required materials and equipment from the supervisor.
  • Must be able to build panels from drawings and troubleshoot Omni.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations in carrying out work including following detailed procedures indicated in work permits and fully participate in Safety Meetings and Drills.
  • Additional duties as instructed by supervisor.
Skills / Qualifications

Required:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 5 years of instrumentation and electrical experience required.

Preferred:  Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; 10 years' offshore I&E experience on a production platform preferred with the abillity to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw a valid conclusion;

  • Experience maintaining and installing 15KV and below electrical systems preferred;
  • Experience maintaining and installing programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)/Distributed control systems (DCS);
  • Experience with NFPA 70E Arc Flash protection regulations;
  • Experience in safe design and installation of tubing systems up to 15KPSI.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems preferred as well as Hydraulic systems.
