Job description

Implementation Engineer (Ecommerce & Logistics Integrations)

Location: Austin, TX (Preferred) | Remote Eligible
Compensation: $110K – $145K + Benefits

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Implementation Engineer to bridge the gap between Sales, Onboarding, and Engineering. This role sits at the center of our customer lifecycle, owning technical discovery, integration design, system configuration, and troubleshooting for ecommerce and logistics workflows.

This is not a pure solutions architect role. This is a builder role.

You will work directly with customers pre- and post-sale to design and implement integrations across platforms like Shopify, ShipStation, WooCommerce, Commerce7, and other bespoke systems, while helping us scale onboarding through automation, scripting, and AI-driven process improvements.

You will report directly to the VP of Technology and play a key role in reducing onboarding time, improving system reliability, and building repeatable implementation playbooks.

What You’ll Do

1. Technical Discovery & Solution Design

  • Partner with Sales on pre-sales calls to evaluate technical feasibility and integration complexity
  • Lead technical discovery sessions with customers to gather requirements across ecommerce, fulfillment, and logistics workflows
  • Translate business requirements into clear integration plans, configurations, and technical specifications
  • Contribute to scoping documentation and SOW inputs to ensure accurate onboarding expectations

2. Implementation & System Configuration

  • Configure and deploy integrations across:
    • Shopify, ShipStation (core)
    • WooCommerce, Commerce7 (frequent)
  • Set up and validate:
    • Order flows, inventory sync, routing logic, and fulfillment workflows
    • Shipping configurations, label generation, and carrier integrations (UPS, FedEx)
  • Ensure systems are configured for accuracy, scalability, and operational clarity

3. API Integrations & Debugging

  • Build and troubleshoot API-level integrations using tools like Postman and webhooks
  • Perform payload-level debugging across systems to identify and resolve issues
  • Work with internal and external teams to resolve integration failures, edge cases, and data inconsistencies
  • Interface directly with vendors (e.g., WMS/OMS providers) to escalate and resolve technical issues

4. Onboarding Support & Issue Resolution

  • Act as the technical escalation point during onboarding
  • Troubleshoot misconfigurations, data issues, and workflow gaps in real time
  • Partner with Implementation and Customer Success teams to ensure smooth go-lives

5. Automation, Scripting & Internal Tooling

  • Develop lightweight scripts and automations (Python, JavaScript, SQL) to streamline onboarding and internal workflows
  • Build AI-driven and workflow automations to improve efficiency and reduce manual work
  • Contribute to the development of repeatable onboarding playbooks and templates

6. Documentation & Process Improvement

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, integration playbooks, and configuration standards
  • Identify patterns across implementations and drive standardization and reuse
  • Help reduce onboarding time through process optimization and automation
What Success Looks Like (6–12 Months)
  • Reduced onboarding time through better system configuration, automation, and process clarity
  • Fewer integration issues and escalations due to improved technical oversight and debugging
  • Scalable onboarding playbooks that reduce reliance on tribal knowledge
  • Increased ability to operate independently from external vendors through stronger internal technical ownership
Required Qualifications
  • 4–6 years of experience in implementation, solutions engineering, or integration-focused roles
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Shopify and/or ShipStation (required)
    • At least one of: WooCommerce, Commerce7, NetSuite
  • Strong experience with:
    • API integrations (REST, webhooks, Postman)
    • Debugging payloads and system-to-system data flows
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting ecommerce and fulfillment workflows
  • Working knowledge of shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx) including rating, labeling, and fulfillment logic
  • Ability to write light scripts (Python, JavaScript, or SQL) for automation and debugging
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and drive outcomes independently
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface directly with customers in technical discussions
Nice to Have (but Highly Valued)
  • Experience with WMS/OMS platforms (especially in 3PL or logistics environments)
  • Familiarity with alcohol shipping compliance and regulatory constraints
  • Experience working with or configuring Zoho (CRM, Flow, Desk, etc.)
  • Exposure to data pipelines, Snowflake, or ETL debugging
  • Experience managing or escalating issues with external SaaS vendors
  • Exposure to custom integration layers or middleware platforms
Who You Are
  • A builder who prefers solving problems over documenting them
  • Comfortable going from client conversation ? API debugging ? system configuration in the same day
  • Scrappy and resourceful, but knows when to introduce structure and repeatability
  • Able to balance speed and accuracy in a high-growth environment
  • Not afraid of messy systems, unclear ownership, or imperfect vendors—you know how to navigate and fix them
Why This Role Matters

This role is critical to our ability to scale. You will directly impact:

  • How quickly we onboard customers
  • How reliably our systems operate
  • How independent we are from external vendors
  • How effectively we turn complex integrations into repeatable processes
