Job description

SUMMARY

Assigned to work in the outby area of the mine performing utility work, packing of timbers, and shoveling. May also operate equipment including roof bolters. Responsible for operating within safety guidelines in an efficient and productive manner.


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Demonstrate participation with the Mines BBS program.

Report on time as scheduled.

Exhibit a positive attitude and effectively work with others.

Perform outby utility work.

Perform assigned duties safely and competently maintain and utilize proper safety equipment and apparel.

Perform pre-operational equipment checks as well as cable, roof and rib conditions in work areas and haulage way.

Maintain all training and certifications as required by the company and/or state and federal law.

Practice good housekeeping.

Be aware of your surroundings and other employees.

Correct and/or report all safety hazards.

Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years underground mining experience.
  • Previous experience operating mine equipment including roof bolters is preferred.
  • Fireboss, Mine Forman, EMT, and Mine Rescue certification is a plus.
  • Must understand mining best practices and approved methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communications (oral and written) skills.
  • Must have CH4 card or be able to attain the certification within 1 month.

Position will report to: Shift/Crew Supervisor


Fossil Rock is a 7-day a week operation and will be a 4 on 4 off rotation as the mine continues to grow. Initial parking is sparse and will move into remote parking location for transportation to and from Fossil Rock.
