About the role:  The Receiving Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the receiving operations within a manufacturing environment, ensuring that all incoming materials and products are accurately inspected, documented, and processed efficiently. This position is responsible for managing a team of receiving clerks and warehouse personnel to maintain smooth workflow and adherence to safety and quality standards. The Receiving Supervisor collaborates closely with procurement, quality control, and production departments to resolve discrepancies and optimize inventory accuracy. By implementing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives, the supervisor ensures timely receipt of materials that support uninterrupted manufacturing processes. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall supply chain effectiveness and operational excellence of the manufacturing facility.  To be considered, you must reside in or around the Houston, TX area.  No staffing agencies, please. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management / Logistics or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in receiving or warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • At lest two years of verifiable supervisor experience. 
  • Proven experience in supervising or leading a team.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management and shipping/receiving procedures.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards relevant to manufacturing. OSHA compliance.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft products (excel, word, power point). 
  • Approving time off for staff and updating time sheets in ADP platform

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. - SAP
  • Inventory management experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily receiving activities, including unloading, inspection, and verification of incoming shipments.
  • Manage and train receiving staff to ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of received goods, discrepancies, and returns, and communicate issues promptly to relevant departments.
  • Collaborate with procurement and production teams to schedule deliveries and resolve any supply chain issues.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure the receiving area is organized, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare reports on receiving metrics and team performance for management review.
  • Approve direct reports time and attendance (PTO requests), etc. 
  • Follow all safety regulations and enforce said process with all staff
  • Facilitate monthly safety meetings, comply with all OSHA regulation
  • Maintains an organized, clean and safe work environment. 
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned, based on workload and business needs.

Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for accurately inspecting shipments and maintaining precise inventory records. Proficiency with warehouse management systems and related software supports the tracking and documentation of materials, enabling timely reporting and issue resolution. Problem-solving skills are applied to address discrepancies and optimize receiving processes, contributing to overall supply chain reliability. Additionally, knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance ensures a safe working environment for all team members.
