Director of Operations

Location: Columbus, OH or Atlanta, GA Area


We are seeking a results-driven Director of Operations to lead a multi-site network across the U.S., delivering best-in-class performance in safety, service, operational excellence, financial outcomes, and customer experience.


This role is ideal for a senior leader with deep expertise in 3PL environments and big box distribution, who thrives in high-volume, fast-paced operations and is passionate about driving continuous improvement and scalable growth. Big-box grocery experience is a requirement.


Key Responsibilities

Operational & Customer Leadership

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key customers, ensuring strong, proactive communication and partnership.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to consistently achieve KPIs across Safety, Quality, On-Time Delivery, and Cost.
  • Identify and manage escalation points, ensuring timely resolution of operational and customer issues.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture across multiple sites.


Performance & Financial Management

  • Oversee operational performance, including cost control, productivity, and service delivery.
  • Develop and present weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on operational results, financial performance, and key issues.
  • Partner in the development and execution of capital budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Drive improved ROI through process optimization, efficiency gains, and disciplined financial management.


Strategic & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and execute short- and long-term operational strategies aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including lean methodologies and process enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities for network expansion, capacity optimization, and operational scalability.
  • Support implementation of new systems, processes, and technologies (including WMS platforms) to improve performance.


Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build, coach, and develop a strong operations leadership team.
  • Lead efforts to recruit, retain, and develop top talent across the network.
  • Drive engagement, accountability, and a results-oriented culture.
  • Partner with HR and Safety teams to ensure a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment.


Systems, Compliance & Process Excellence

  • Leverage WMS and operational systems to improve productivity and streamline distribution processes.
  • Ensure robust operational procedures and controls are in place across all sites.
  • Support environmental, health, and safety programs, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  • Standardize best practices across locations, including cost control and waste reduction initiatives.


Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
  • Proven senior leadership experience within 3PL, retail, consumer goods, or grocery distribution environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale, multi-site operations in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
  • Strong experience supporting big box grocery customers and distribution models.
