SUMMARY
The Project superintendent oversees all phases of a construction project from initial planning to completion. Plans, directs, and coordinates, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with the construction of the project to ensure it is completed on time and on budget. Per diem and Housing included.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manages the distribution of crews and equipment between multiple projects ensuring efficient resource utilization
  • Oversees construction activities for assigned projects/region; ensuring work is completed safely, within schedule and budget, in a manner consistent with Company policies and procedures
  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises activities of subordinate supervisory personnel on assigned projects
  • Reviews job quality to ensure customer specifications are being met and eliminate rework
  • Provides input to project manager for schedule updates, material variances, and changes to scope of work
  • Manages the distribution of crews and equipment between multiple projects ensuring efficient resource utilization
  • Promotes a safe working culture for all employees; works with safety and field personnel to minimize risk and increase safety for employees at all times
  • Ensures pre-job inspections are completed
  • Acts in an ethical manner, portraying a positive Company image and promoting strong customer and employee relations
  • Assures progress reports are turned in on schedule
  • Reviews daily labor, production, equipment reports to be submitted to office
  • Interviews and hires personnel; makes decisions on disciplinary and termination actions
  • Ensures best care is taken so as not to damage or lose equipment; works in coordination with equipment manager to schedule repairs, maintenance, mobilization
  • Resolves problems/conflicts related to jobs and personnel issues; works closely with Human Resources

QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management preferred; 10+ years in a senior supervisory position in the heavy civil/heavy highway construction industry, with specialties in dirt, structures, and heavy highway construction. Equivalent experience and/or a combination of education and experience considered. Knowledge of OSHA, owner standards, rules, safety, and quality standards. Thorough understanding on how to read blueprints and specifications, estimating material needs and costs for jobs.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to type, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
