Job description

Allied Valve is seeking an experienced Lead Leak Repair Technician to join our growing field service team. This position is designed for an experienced leak repair professional with 5+ years of hands-on experience performing and leading industrial leak repair work.

We are recruiting nationwide and will provide a set relocation assistance amount based on the candidate's current location for individuals willing to relocate to Joliet, Illinois; Appleton, Wisconsin; or Riverdale, Iowa.

The Lead Leak Repair Technician will perform and lead complex industrial leak repair projects at customer facilities. This includes installing mechanical enclosures and engineered repair devices, composite wrapping, valve repacking, and other online leak repair techniques. Experience with field machining and precision line freezing is highly preferred.

This is a hands-on field leadership position requiring strong mechanical skills, sound judgment, a commitment to safety, and the ability to lead technicians while completing critical repairs in demanding industrial environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and perform industrial online leak repair projects at customer facilities.
  • Evaluate leaking piping, valves, flanges, fittings, and other pressure-containing equipment and determine appropriate repair methods.
  • Install mechanical enclosures, engineered clamps, and other leak containment devices.
  • Perform composite and carbon fiber wrap repairs on piping and industrial equipment.
  • Perform valve repacking and leak sealing on valves, flanges, piping systems, and related equipment.
  • Safely perform repairs on operating systems while following established procedures and customer safety requirements.
  • Read and interpret drawings, measurements, specifications, and repair procedures.
  • Take accurate field measurements and communicate information required for engineered repair solutions.
  • Lead, train, and provide direction to Field Technicians during repair projects.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, materials, and safety equipment are properly prepared for each job.
  • Complete job documentation and communicate repair status with customers and internal teams.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer service at all times.
  • Travel to customer facilities as required, including regular overnight and emergency assignments.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of significant industrial leak repair experience, preferably in a Lead Leak Repair Technician or similar senior field position.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of online leak sealing and industrial leak repair methods.
  • Demonstrated experience installing mechanical enclosures, clamps, and engineered leak repair devices.
  • Experience performing composite wrap repairs.
  • Experience with valve repacking and sealing applications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate industrial hand and power tools.
  • Ability to accurately measure piping, valves, flanges, and other industrial components.
  • Experience leading technicians and directing field repair activities.
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in industrial environments while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime as required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Field machining experience.
  • Precision line/pipe freezing experience, including controlled liquid nitrogen freezing systems.
  • Experience working in refineries, chemical plants, power generation facilities, pulp and paper mills, ethanol facilities, food processing plants, utilities, or other heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience training or mentoring junior leak repair technicians.

Schedule & Travel:

The typical schedule is primarily daytime, Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. However, industrial leak repair is driven by customer needs and plant conditions, so candidates must be comfortable with a variable schedule.

Overtime is required and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, emergency callouts, and extended shifts depending on customer requirements.

Travel to customer facilities is required, with the majority of work supporting industrial customers throughout the Midwest and additional travel throughout the United States as needed.
