Job Summary
This role is an active member of the Urgent Care team who is responsible to welcome patient families for their visit, complete accurate registration and act as a liaison between patient families and the clinical team to promote a safe and organized environment for the delivery of services to children and their families within the urgent care setting. This position reports to the Urgent Care Supervisor.
Essential Functions

  • Adheres to all CW and Urgent Care policies, procedures, and standards. Ensures confidentiality to our customers by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment; maintains HIPAA compliance. Provides exceptional care to patients and families to fulfill our patient experience promise.

  • Alerts provider or Registered Nurse (RN) of any patient needing immediate assistance.

  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

  • Applies Front Desk Service Standards to provide exceptional care to patients and families. Communicates wait time updates to patients and families. Provides clerical support to the clinic through answering and directing telephone calls, opening, sorting and routing incoming mail. Maintains a clean and organized environment through stocking supplies and disinfecting furniture and medical supplies as needed.

  • Completes accurate registration as outlined by the Patient Access Complete Registration policy including MyChart activation. Manages assigned work queues to ensure accuracy and completion per department guidelines. Utilizes scheduling applications to facilitate appointment scheduling and cancellations.

  • Attends staff meetings and in-services, and keeps abreast of communication that affects patient care, services, and clinic operations.


Education:

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) Required


Experience:

  • 1+ years registration or scheduling experience in a healthcare setting or related experience Required

  • Prior customer service experience Preferred

  • Knowledge of medical terminology obtained through passing a medical terminology course, or demonstrated through work experience Preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills necessary to work independently in a fast paced multi-functioned department

  • Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to assist patients, parents, and physicians and other staff.

  • Required flexibility in order to prioritize efforts to meet needs of the patients, parents, physicians and other staff.

  • Proficient in a Windows environment.

  • Requires the ability to sit for extended period of time while performing duties.

  • May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Will require travel to all Urgent Care locations.

  • During periods of high volume, additional shifts may be required.


Licenses and Certifications:

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required


Patient Care Responsibility

  • Provides care appropriate to patient population and as described in applicable policies and procedures.
