Job Summary

The Network Engineer, Lead, works under minimal supervision to provide direct oversight of the Network Engineering team to insure that technology standards and operational processes are successfully executed.

Job Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for network systems, including wireless and wireline voice and data, systems of moderate to high complexity.
  • Integrates and schematically depicts voice and data communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.
  • Monitors protocol compatibility, performs system tuning and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Develops integrated solutions to resolve highly complex technical and business issues.
  • Leads network planning and is instrumental in network architecture design and engineering.
  • Evaluates new products, performs network problem resolution and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards and interface applications.
  • Performs work that is highly complex and varied in nature.
  • Recognized expert internally and externally within a discipline(s) and often provides strategic direction, guidance and integration of products and services.
  • May lead projects and provide guidance/training to more junior staff.
  • Requires mastery of technical and business knowledge in multiple disciplines/processes.
  • Provides training and guidance to the Engineering team regarding operational processes.
  • Provides leadership in fostering teamwork and cooperation.
  • Provides central point of communications for the Engineering team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

  • Education levelrequired:High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent.

  • Minimum experiencerequired: ten years of experience working in a network engineering role.

  • Previous experience as a Team Lead.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education level preferred:Undergraduate Degree (4years orequivalent).

  • CCNP.


Job Competencies:

  • Proficient understanding of voice and data communications equipment, protocols, cabling and physical standards.
  • PC literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Visio and Windows applications.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and terminate cables and grounding systems.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to maintain a professional composure with customers in difficult situations.
  • In-depth knowledge of, and the ability to apply, concepts, practices and procedures utilized in voice and data communications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability and discipline to follow standards, procedures, checklists, and design documents.
  • Ability to write clear, concise documentation.
  • Exercises sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to customer information and employee records.
