Sr. Network/Security Architect

The Sr. Network/Security Architect is the lead resource for all network engineering related responsibilities such as Network Designs, Network Security, Product Management and Escalation Resolution.  The Sr Network Architect primarily works on enterprise customers and assists product management testing and implementing new technologies in support of the ZAYO Networks vision. 

Responsibilities:

  • Participate and lead network planning, design, and deployment strategies with internal teams and customer engineering teams. 

  •  Develop and maintain network standards
  • Maintaining Fortigate Platform – adding/designing/implementing/upgrading new and existing hardware models to include chassis units(6K/7K). Monitoring CVEs and ensuring the platform is protected.

  • Create and maintain best practice documentation and other reference materials as needed to document technology policies, procedures, and methods

  • Engineer and implement network methods that are repeatable, scalable, and easily deployable across multiple enterprise environments

  • Provide assistance as needed to the Engineering and Operations teams for implementations, troubleshooting and repair of network installation and deployments.

  • Providing courteous and professional communication with internal departments, customers, and vendors

  • Ensuring ZAYO Networks’ standards are followed from beginning-to-end for each client and internal department interaction

  • Research and evaluate new hardware, software and virtualized products and solutions in support of internal projects and the product management team.

  • Facilitate discussions with senior leadership leading technical discussions of customer designs, escalations, and vendor updates.

  • Maintain relationships with Customer engineering teams and with all software and hardware vendors that support ZAYO Networks.

  • Be a continuous subject matter expert. Expected to be a go-to resource on all network related items.

  • Some travel required – Technical Conferences, Customer Visits, Vendor Visits, Company Meetings <20%

  • Other related tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Network Engineering, design, and architecture expertise with exposure to the following areas:

    • Fortinet Security Appliances  

    • Managed Routers & Switches: Cisco, Brocade, and some Juniper 

    • Troubleshooting knowledge

    • Ansible and Python knowledge a plus
       

  • Mastery of TCP/IP protocol, IPv4 subnetting and knowledge of IPv6 addressing

  • Extensive knowledge of Network Diagnostics, protocols, and disciplines, BGP, OSPF, ZAYO, SNMP, VLANS, STP and VRF-LITE,

  • Knowledge of security and encryption technologies including IPSEC and GRE tunnels.

  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot complex network related issues.

  • Successful track record selecting and evaluating new network technologies that adhere to innovative industry trends and practices

Education/Experience:

  • Fortinet NSE7 or FCE preferred.

  • CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent work or military experience. 

  • 9+ years’ experience as a Sr Network Engineer or higher at an ISP/MSP or supporting a large Enterprise (500+ locations).

Estimated Base Salary Range: $95,800 - $136,900 USD/annually.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
