COMPANY SUMMARY
SEPCO is a global sealing solutions provider based in Alabaster, Alabama. With a history of providing quality fluid and dry sealing components, SEPCO manufactures pump and valve packing, mechanical seals, gasket materials, high-performance plastics, air seals, and bearing isolators.
JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing various duties, including installation, troubleshoot, repair, and maintenance of the facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for analysis, testing, and routine maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment with some emphasis on PLC hardware and programming.
  • Responsible for routine maintenance and repair of machinery.
  • Diagnoses causes of malfunctions or failures and performs preventive/corrective maintenance.
  • Ability to maintain positive, professional relationships and interactions with peers and supervisors.
  • Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pneumatic tools, production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools and precision-measuring and testing instruments.
  • Diagnose, replace and maintain damaged or faulty mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Installs safety controls onto machinery.
  • Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Dismantle machines, equipment, or devises to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
  • Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in plant.
  • a pattern of continuous improvement and working with accepted quality and safety guidelines to achieve goals.
  • Responsible for the completion of maintenance service requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints.
  • May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Performs electrical work, including the repair of fixtures, switches and outlets, replacement of light bulbs.
  • Performs minor to moderate-level pluming repairs, including issues to sinks, faucets, and toilets.
  • Performs painting and light carpentry duties as assigned.
  • Replace electric motor bearings.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Janitorial functions that include: sweeping, general cleaning, painting, power-washing, small electrical, lifting, small repair projects, and landscaping.
  • Required to complete other activities assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong analytical, mechanical, and solution driven skills.
  • Good communication skills (both verbally and in writing).
  • Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
  • Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO
  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
  • Access all areas within the plant which could include confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, atmospheric conditions such as dust and fumes.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions: standing, walking, balancing, stooping, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
  • Ability of occasionally lift or carry 50 pounds.

EXPERIENCE
Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment, preferred.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED equivalent along with driver's license and proof of insurance. Must be able to work a flexible schedule Monday-Friday and some weekends.
