Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking motivated and hands-on Manufacturing Technicians to join our production team. In this role, you will build, assemble, and process critical electrical equipment, including transformers and switchgear. As part of a new facility ramp-up, you will operate specialized equipment, follow engineering blueprints, assist in establishing standard work practices, and maintain high workmanship standards to ensure top product quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Core & Winding Operations:
• Perform core cutting, electrical steel lamination stacking, step-lap core assembly, and coil/foil/wire winding according to engineering specs.
• Maintain strict contamination-control practices during winding and assembly to preserve insulation integrity.
Mechanical & Electrical Assembly:
• Assemble active parts (core & coil assembly, yoke assembly, lead routing, coil wedging).
• Mount bushings, interrupters, mechanisms, and accessories into switchgear tanks and enclosures.
• Wire sub-assemblies, control panels, and perform point-to-point electrical connections.
• Execute precision mechanical fastening, busbar bolting, and torque-wrench verification per engineering torque specifications.
Processing, Tanking & Gas/Fluid Systems:
• Assist with vacuum drying (LFH/autoclave), tanking, and liquid/oil filling processes for sealed units.
• Support pressure/leak testing and gas-filling operations for switchgear enclosures.
Quality, Inspection & Digital Tracking:
• Perform in-process visual checks, dimensional measurements (using calipers, micrometers, tape measures), and basic electrical pre-tests (e.g., insulation resistance/megger checks).
• Read and follow engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Log production records, material traceability, and quality checks into shop-floor digital tracking systems (ERP/MES).
Material Handling & Safety:
• Safely operate overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, and lifting fixtures to move heavy materials and assemblies.
• Strictly follow electrical safety protocols, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash guidelines, and high-voltage test bay safety perimeters.
• Maintain clean, organized workstations (5S) and report equipment or material issues to leadership.
Required Qualifications
• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 1–3+ years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical assembly, or electrical assembly.
Technical Skills:
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and basic precision measuring devices.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude with high attention to detail.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and safely wear required PPE.
• Comfortable operating or working around overhead cranes, heavy machinery, and high-voltage test environments.
Preferred Qualifications
• Direct experience in transformer winding/assembly or switchgear/RMU assembly.
• Knowledge of vacuum oil-filling systems, pressure/leak testing
• Overhead crane, forklift, or OSHA safety certifications.
• Prior experience working in a facility startup, equipment commissioning, or process stabilization environment.
