Join the Canam Calgary Production Welding Team and play a key role in our company's success.  We're looking for skilled Welder-Wire Process Operators to complete the welding of our products, working in a way that aligns with our company's mission and values.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE

  • The skills to perform production wire welding on steel, within a six-member production line team.
  • Understand and interpret basic shop drawings, welding symbols and specifications and job instructions.
  • Able to read and use standard and metric measuring devices.
  • Inspect welds to ensure quality and be able to identify and correct welding defects.
  • Comply with all legislated and company’s health, safety, environmental, quality and Lean policies, procedure and programs.
  • Clean work areas and equipment.
  • Identify potential hazards and make necessary corrections.
  • Be able to perform with minimal assistance from supervisor.
  • Learn basic crane operation and safety.
  • Perform production welding and other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Work in a safe and conscientious manner.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years related MIG welding experience and/or training on steel production lines; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) Certification is required.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must possess basic English reading and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to follow instruction and work within a team environment.
  • Strong awareness of surroundings taking into account safety of self and others.

Additional Information

This position requires the ability to work biweekly rotating day/evening shifts. Availability to work overtime is an asset.

Physical Demands:
This role requires continuous standing with occasional walking and sitting. You must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (60-100 lbs.) and perform a variety of physical activities, including pushing, pulling, climbing, crouching, kneeling, and bending. Repetitive and awkward body positioning is also required. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and the ability to focus.

Work Environment:
You'll be exposed to noise, vibration, fumes, and heat in a steel fabrication facility. This role involves working near moving equipment and requires strict adherence to safety protocols and the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This is a safety-sensitive position where your actions directly impact your own well-being and that of your team.
