Working on various sites around Edmonton ABand typically reporting directly to the Site Supervisor. Their primary focus is the installation and maintenance tasks with various electrical tasks including streetlight, power distribution and temp power

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identifies and tests equipment, electronic devices, and electrical equipment
  • Troubleshooting electrical issues
  • Pull cable and wiring
  • Assist with the installations, setting and framing of pole bases, pull boxes, and streetlights
  • Provides lead direction in setting up, installing and initiating the operations and servicing of equipment at a field site
  • Read and understand single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and drawings
  • Placing conduit and different types of cables
  • Installing underground and overhead cables and conduit
  • Maintains records of all maintenance activities in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Assist in other related duties as required, including scheduling, logistics, quality performance monitoring, etc.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 4 or more years' experience as a ticketed journeyman
  • Able to work with little directions and be able to work alone

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of reading wiring diagrams and schematics and operating electronic tools and test equipment.
  • Ability to enter aerial bucket and operate at heights ranging from 3-15 meters in compliance with equipment safety standards.
  • Experience working from vehicle mounted aerial device is an asset.
  • Ability to prioritize work, complete multiple tasks and work under deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to comply with the company standard practice as it applies to field assignments.
  • Willing and able to travel to sites
  • Valid Alberta Driver's License (Class 1 and 3 would be an asset but not required)
  • CSTS

  • Red Seal Journeyman Electrician
  • Ability and willingness to join Local 424 Union
