Winter Seasonal Position - DPW Seasonal Equipment Operator Department of Public Works Laborers The DPW Seasonal Equipment Operator/ Snowplow Driver assists the City of Glendale Department of Public Works with snow and ice removal along with other duties as assigned during the winter months approximately mid-November through mid-April on an as needed call in basis.

Required works days can include weekdays, weeknights, weekends and holidays. The employee will be paid only for actual hours worked. Employee will receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

Located at: 5909 N. Milwaukee River Parkway Glendale, WI. Duties/Responsiblities Duties: Typical duties for winter seasonal positions include plowing alleyways, clearing cross walks, building walkways and other locations around the City as needed.

Reports to: Superintendent or designee. Abilities Required: 1. Employees shall be proficient in winter maintenance: ability to operate a pick up truck with a front V/straight mounted snow plow blade.

2. Response to snow and ice events within 1 hour of the call-in. 3.

Routine servicing and light maintenance of equipment. 4. General vehicle maintenance knowledge.

5. Complete snow clearing activities including plowing alleyways, clearing cross walks, building walkways and other locations around the City as needed. 6.

Required to work week days, evening, weekends, and holidays as directed. 7. Understand and carrying out verbal and written instructions.

8. Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers. 9.

Candidate must be a team-player and able to undertake assigned tasks in a respectful, safe, and efficient manner. 10. This position requires all duties to be performed in conformance with the City of Glendale policies and adherence to state and federal safety polices and standards.

Experience with the operations of equipment required for winter street maintenance desired. Minimum of one year a of snow removal experience with a pick up truck V blade/straight blade plow truck and snow blower desired. Must be able to pass background check, drug test, and reference check.

Environmental Requirements: Work is done mainly outdoors and may require frequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Abilities Required: There is a need to stand, sit, stoop, bend, walk, and drive. Employees will be exposed to cold, wet, and slippery conditions, dust, noise, and chemicals.

Frequently subject to work as weather or circumstances dictate, e.g. snowstorms, freezing rain/wind storms, or other events requiring response to protect the public as a result of natural or man-made circumstances. Employees will need to be available to report for work within 1-horus of call-in Sensory Requirements: Tasks requires perception and discrimination in the sensory areas of: visual, color, sound, odor, depth, and texture
