The Team: In-Sight Products:
The In-Sight Products team is a cornerstone of Cognex success. Our software engineers design, develop, and implement the next generations of machine learning and machine vision sensors and user interfaces. We work in a full stack environment that includes a combination of embedded Linux platforms, Microsoft Windows technologies, and a variety of programming languages.
The Role:
The team is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer with a passion for programming and a record of getting things done. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop, test, and implement advanced machine vision systems.
Essential Functions:
  • Design and develop software for sensor firmware, user interfaces, PC applications, and web services.
  • Join one of the seven scrum teams within the larger In-Sight organization.
  • Drive scrum stories and epics from refinement and planning to completion
  • Work to achieve schedule milestones
  • Present accurate status updates and demos at sprint reviews.
  • Partner with Product Development and Marketing teams to develop requirements and influence priorities.
  • Work with Core Technology and Vision Tool development teams to integrate new technology and features into the customer-facing product.
  • Lead cross team design reviews, participate in regular code review, guide code quality, and junior developers.
  • Interact with customers, and customer support teams to debug important customer issues.
  • Maintain and improve legacy code and architecture

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Looking for candidates that can demonstrate skills in some of these areas:
  • Experience with C++
  • Experience with C# and/or Java
  • Experience with Python and/or JavaScript
  • Full stack, comfortable in variety of technologies
  • Experience with Embedded Linux OS/System programming (Yocto)
  • Experience with Microsoft Development (Visual Studio, .NET, Winforms/WPF)
  • Familiar with software development processes, source control, formal bug tracking
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Team player and ability to work on multi-site development projects
  • Ability to work in an agile/scrum environment
  • Customer focused, Detail oriented.
  • Process improvement mindset.
  • Willingness and passion to improve code architecture and automated tests.
  • Good presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Minimum education and work experience required:
  • BS, MS Electrical Computer Engineering (or CS)
  • 3-5 years of experience in software development

Cognex believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 170,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance or a sales incentive plan.
