Job description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Line Cook to join our culinary team. The Line Cook will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating high-quality meals in accordance with hotel standards, ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our guests. This position requires strong culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook food items according to standardized recipes, ensuring proper taste, texture, presentation, portion control, and cooking techniques.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen, restaurant, and banquet teams to ensure smooth, efficient, and timely meal service, especially during peak hours.
  • Work with kitchen and front-of-house staff to accommodate dietary requests and communicate effectively regarding inventory, shortages, and special requests.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked workstation.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, quality, and sanitation protocols, including hygiene, proper food storage, handling, and food temperature standards.
  • Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment, promptly reporting any malfunctions.
  • Set up, maintain, and break down workstations, ensuring all necessary ingredients, utensils, and equipment are ready before and after shifts.
  • Contribute to menu development by suggesting new dish ideas and maintaining knowledge of menu items, recipes, and dietary restrictions.
  • Assist in monitoring ingredient inventory, ordering supplies to minimize waste, controlling costs, and ensuring proper stock storage and rotation.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding attendance, meal breaks, uniforms, professionalism, and conduct.
  • Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Culinary school training or equivalent experience is a plus, with a minimum of 1-2 years as a line cook, prep cook, or similar role in a professional kitchen.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment.
  • Strong teamwork, communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Must obtain a Food Handler's Certification upon hire.

Work Environment:
  • A fast-paced kitchen with exposure to heat, humidity, steam, noise, sharp tools, and fluctuating temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motion activities for extended periods.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
