Job description

St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college, is seeking a Maintenance Specialist/Locksmith to join our facilities team. This position is responsible for all locksmith services across campus, including the repair, maintenance, and installation of locks and related components. The position also oversees a scheduled preventive maintenance program and maintains an accurate inventory of locksmith supplies to help ensure a safe, secure, and well-maintained campus for the St. Norbert College community.
Regular work hours are Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm. The position is generally not expected to work nights or weekends except for snow removal.
Specific responsibilities:
  • Perform numerous maintenance tasks throughout the campus, such as daily work orders, repairs, and modifications.
  • Recore locks, change lock cores, install new locks, panic bars, and door closers.
  • Repair and maintain all lock mechanisms and maintain records on key inventory.
  • Maintain and install automatic door openers.
  • Perform various masonry tasks and repairs.
  • Repair broken windows and install new window components.
  • Perform various carpentry tasks.
  • Assist with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
  • Assist with snow removal and participate in the on-call program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of related work experience.
  • Certification in a professional locksmith course.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Sound judgment and timely decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Ability to maintain focus in a noisy environment.
