Compensation: $65,000–$80,000 + Commission, based on experience

Design Windows and Doors is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee daily field operations, window and door installation crews, fleet coordination, warehouse operations, inventory management, and production processes. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for ensuring residential window and door projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and according to company standards.

The ideal Production Manager has experience in construction, window and door installation, field operations, or production management and understands the importance of quality workmanship, accurate measurements, customer service, crew accountability, and operational efficiency. This role is well suited for a strong field leader who can confidently manage installation teams while also identifying opportunities to increase project value through change orders and upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations & Installation Management

  • Lead, manage, and hold window and door installation crews accountable for productivity, workmanship, professionalism, safety, and adherence to company standards.
  • Schedule and coordinate installation crews to ensure efficient project completion and optimal labor utilization.
  • Conduct regular job-site and field inspections to verify quality control, safety compliance, installation standards, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide coaching, training, direction, and performance feedback to installation teams.
  • Resolve field issues quickly and effectively to minimize delays and keep projects on schedule.
  • Assist with window and door installation projects and services as needed.
  • Conduct site visits and provide hands-on operational support to field teams.

Fleet Management

  • Oversee company fleet operations, including vehicle maintenance scheduling, inspections, cleanliness, registration compliance, and fuel management.
  • Monitor vehicle usage and ensure crews properly maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Coordinate vehicle repairs and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.

Change Orders & Customer Service

  • Build customer trust and confidently identify opportunities to upsell additional window, door, or related products and upgrades during on-site appointments.
  • Maintain an average 10% change order rate.
  • Own the client experience throughout the production and installation process.
  • Ensure professionalism, communication, and quality at every customer touchpoint.
  • Directly support company goals for customer satisfaction, reviews, and overall customer experience.

Technical Measurements & Production Readiness

  • Conduct accurate field measurements for windows and doors while verifying installation requirements and site conditions.
  • Identify potential production, manufacturing, or installation issues before materials are manufactured or installed.
  • Document measurements, specifications, site conditions, photographs, and job-site details accurately.
  • Maintain 100% measurement accuracy to minimize costly production and installation errors.

Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Manage daily warehouse operations, organization, cleanliness, and material flow.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and oversee inventory tracking processes.
  • Coordinate material receiving, staging, loading, and distribution for installation crews.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and implement controls to reduce waste, loss, shortages, and unnecessary expenses.
  • Ensure the warehouse operates safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.
  • Coordinate last-minute material runs when necessary to keep projects moving.

Production & Operational Management

  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and company leadership to improve workflow, communication, and customer experience.
  • Monitor project schedules, production timelines, labor efficiency, and operational KPIs.
  • Develop and implement processes that improve efficiency, accountability, productivity, and profitability.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, reports, job documentation, and production information.
  • Manage operations within established budget expectations and work to keep material and labor costs at or below budget.
  • Maintain 100% job costing.
  • Achieve a goal of 80% of projects meeting or beating the established materials and labor budget.

Qualifications

  • Customer-service mindset with the ability to communicate professionally with homeowners, employees, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with relevant scheduling, inventory, project management, and computer software applications preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability and willingness to work in the field and assist with installations and services as needed.

What We're Looking For

If you are an experienced construction or window and door professional who enjoys leading people, solving problems, improving production, and being involved in the field, this could be an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact.

Compensation

$65,000–$80,000 base salary + commission, based on experience.

This position offers an opportunity for an experienced window and door Production Manager to directly influence installation efficiency, customer satisfaction, change-order revenue, labor performance, inventory control, and overall operational profitability.
