Job description

The Dayton Convention Center (DCC) is the region's premier mid-sized event facility conveniently situated right in the heart of downtown Dayton. Located within a 600-mile radius of close to 70% of the nation's population and steps from the vibrant Oregon Entertainment District, the 150,000 sq. ft. DCC offers 77,000 sq. ft of column-free exhibition space and 22 meeting rooms including a 750 seat, full stage theater. Managed by ASM Global and owned and developed by the Montgomery County Convention Facilities Authority, the DCC is in the process of completing a major renovation to its facility that will serve to reinforce its status as the venue of choice for the region.
Summary
Legends/ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for an Operations Facility Specialist. Under general supervision, performs work as needed to clean, maintain, and prepare for events at the facility. Duties include skilled and semi-skilled tasks, which often require heavy lifting and a high degree of physical activity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Perform all aspects of the setup and conversion process in preparation for events. Duties may include setting up and removing tables, chairs, operable walls, barricades, stages, flooring, furnishings, and equipment.
  • Perform various duties to ensure the day-to-day operations of the facility are met. These include but are not limited to loading/unloading delivery trucks, transporting trash and recycling to proper disposal area and replenishing supplies.
  • Assist with pre/post event cleaning and janitorial tasks including, but not limited to sanitizing and disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling and sorting materials, vacuuming, floor care, carpet care such as stain removal and window washing.
  • Perform light maintenance tasks such as painting and patching.
  • Report irregularities, discrepancies, damage, and loss of property and safety concerns promptly to supervisor
  • Ability to use appropriate equipment and supplies to clean and maintain the facility.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Work Experience
  • Six months or more related experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities
  • Always provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers
  • Demonstrate knowledge of practices and procedures related to event set up & conversion, typical methods and techniques for cleaning and maintaining the facility.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, and patrons.
  • Follow all polices/procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules, regulations, and emergency procedures established at the facility.
  • Meet the physical demand of the job, must perform strenuous physical duties at times, including lifting, carrying, moving, and climbing.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

Other Qualifications
  • Must be able to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • Work under adverse indoor/outdoor conditions including extreme heat and cold and exposure to dust, dirt, and cleaning agents.
