Job description

The Parts Outside Sales Representative visits potential and existing customers to present the dealership as not only a source for parts but also as a partner in finding solutions for the repair and maintenance of their vehicles and equipment. Additional responsibilities include utilizing various computer programs to look up engine diagrams and parts, enter orders, run and analyze sales reports and meeting established sales goals while delivering customer service that leads to inventory, promotion and pricing strategies that maximize business outcomes and the customer experience. Must have an insurable driving record.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: (This is a list of essential job duties but is not intended to be exhaustive. Other duties may be added or removed at management discretion.   • Enter new customer orders in the Business Management System on a daily basis.

  • Generate necessary purchase order and submit to manager for approval.

  • Check parts inventory for needed customer items in stock and initiate special order if necessary

  • Review Non-Stock Parts order requirements with Customers prior to order being placed

  • Visit assigned customers regularly and prospect for new customers.

  • Review open orders daily.

  • Check-in and coordinate with the order desk/delivery drivers for any Customer special instructions (delivery window, contact, etc.)

  • Follow up on quotes to customers.

  • Process customer returns and warranty claims according to written policies.

  • Coordinate service sales with service department.

  • Complete daily trip report with any important calls, emails or other noteworthy information on customers, competitors, manufacturers, etc.

  • Update customer information as needed.

  • Act as a public relations liaison for the dealership.

  • Track sales history to determine if set goals will be met.

  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS /TRAINING/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Hold a valid driver's license and have the ability to be insured by company insurance.

  • Ability to successfully navigate the internet to access, research and retrieve information as necessary.

  • Ability to perform all necessary functions within the Business Operating System used by the company.

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing within the department and other areas of the Company as necessary.

  • Ability to work with a variety of customers in a courteous and cooperative manner.

  • Ability to operate a forklift safety.

  • Ability to operate all office equipment necessary to accomplish job duties such as computers, calculators, copiers, telephones, etc.
