Position Overview: The Apprentice Sign Fabricator & Installer is an entry-level position designed to provide hands-on training and development in all aspects of sign fabrication and installation. The apprentice will learn to work with a variety of sign materials, tools, and equipment while supporting the production and installation team to ensure signs are built and installed to Fastsigns of Riverview's high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role is ideal for someone mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to grow into a fully qualified Sign Fabricator and Installer within the Fastsigns team. Key Responsibilities: Fabrication & Production (In-Shop)
  • Assist in the cutting, trimming, and preparation of sign materials (e.g., vinyl, acrylic, aluminum, coroplast, ACM panels).
  • Support the printing, weeding, and application of vinyl graphics on various substrates.
  • Help assemble dimensional and illuminated signs, including channel letters, post & panel signs, and ACM panels.
  • Learn to operate shop tools and equipment such as:
    • Roll-to-roll and flatbed printers
    • Vinyl cutters and laminators
    • Table saws, drills, and basic hand tools
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored.
Installation Support (Field Work)
  • Assist in the installation of interior and exterior signage, including:
    • Wall-mounted signs
    • Window and vehicle graphics
    • Post & panel signs and monument signs
    • Dimensional letters and LED signage
  • Learn site preparation and measuring techniques to ensure accurate and level installations.
  • Support the team in loading/unloading trucks, handling ladders, and preparing job sites safely.
  • Follow safety protocols for ladder use, lifting, and handling materials.
Quality & Safety
  • Inspect finished signs for accuracy, alignment, and finish quality before installation.
  • Ensure all work meets Fastsigns brand standards and project specifications.
  • Follow OSHA and Fastsigns of Riverview safety standards, including the use of PPE.
Training & Development
  • Actively participate in hands-on training sessions with senior fabricators and installers.
  • Learn basic electrical principles for LED sign lighting (under supervision).
  • Develop problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for fabrication and installation challenges.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED (trade school or vocational experience is a plus).
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand/power tools.
  • Ability to measure, cut, and handle materials accurately.
  • Physical capability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work outdoors.
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Basic computer literacy for learning printing and cutting equipment operation.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and clean driving record preferred.
