Job Summary:

The Service Technician is responsible for performing and assisting in the assembly, installation, maintenance, and inspection of American Vulkan Corporation (AVC) products at customer sites. This position requires a hands-on mechanical aptitude, attention to safety, and the ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

• Apply applications, products and engineering systems and tools to set up, test, adjust, and install American Vulkan Corporation AVC products, using any combination of, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic devices with limited electrical, electronic, and computer technologies.

• Prepare, assemble, and install AVC products at customer’s site.

• Perform precision machining, fitting, and repair of metal components in field environments, maintaining tight tolerances per engineering specifications

• Set up, align, and operate portable machining equipment (line boring, milling, drilling, facing, turning, and flange machining systems)

• Perform precision mechanical alignment of shafts, couplings, bores, flanges, and rotating equipment to tight tolerances

• Set up and verify alignment using dial indicators, laser alignment systems, precision levels, and optical tools

• Disassemble, refurbish, and rebuild AVC products at AVC factory or at customer’s site as required.

• Troubleshoot product installation and/or performance issues with AVC products.

• Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to customer specifications.

• Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.

• Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

• Communicating with persons outside the organization – Representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, telephone, or e-mail.

• Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety and environmental compliance.

• Strong time management and organizational skills.

• This position reports directly to the Service and Cruise line Account Manager.


Requirements and Education

• Heavy Industrial, Mining, Power Plant or Marine field service experience required.

• Minimum one year of vocational training in related field.

• Must be able to travel worldwide by air, land and sea with short notice and open-ended extended periods.

• Must have open mind for international travel accommodations, including shipboard.

• Valid Passport and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) (or able to obtain).

• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.

• Must agree to (and pass) a background check, physical, and drug screening testing.

• Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus.

• Manual Machining experience a plus.

• Microsoft Office 365 software – Word, Excel, Outlook.

• Various hand and power tools based on the job assignment.
