Responsibilities

The VDC Manager I works directly with project teams to assist in the project’s delivery throughout design and construction utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) services.  This position is responsible for planning, executing, and closing out of BIM deliverables at the project specific level. This position will be responsible for projects ranging small to medium size and complexity typically less than $60M. The position requires someone that enjoys integrating technology with traditional construction methods and can begin to show leadership skills around rallying a team around a common goal.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Is proficient at understanding 2D plans and 3D models received by our design partners
  • Fully capable of modeling missing 3D model components on an as needed basis
  • Manage the overall project BIM coordination process on specific projects of medium size/complexity throughout preconstruction and construction
  • Communicate directly to project teams, design teams, and sub-contractors around specific BIM services in a clear and confident manner
  • Analyze models provided by Architects and Design Engineers & adjust for internal use in Preconstruction and Construction needs
  • Participate in VDC Committee meetings & maintain clear communication with your supervisor
  • Participate in the progression of VDC department initiatives working to develop and implement new technology and associated workflows.
  • Utilize models to support Preconstruction
    • Perform and Document Quantity take-off reports
    • Generate 3D/4D Site logistics plans
    • Create 4D visualizations to communicate Schedule and sequence of work
    • Create/ Render Virtual mockups
    • Create Presentation material/ visual aids
    • Perform Design Model constructability reviews
  • Utilize models to support Construction Operations
    • Manage coordination of work with subcontractors
    • Identify “scope gaps” necessary for coordination of overhead MEP trades
    • Run clash detection, document clashes, and track throughout construction
    • Maintain/Assist project team with facilities management requirements
    • Work with Field teams to increase adoption of the 3D model in the field
    • Provide regular QA/QC field walks to ensure field installations match coordinated models
    • Document Plus / Delta throughout the process to improve overall group processes

Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience
    • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction
    • 1-4 years of experience in construction industry with minimum 2 years direct BIM/VDC responsibilities
    • Experience with Assemble Systems, BIM360, Lumion, Dynamo, Synchro, 3DS Max, Photoshop, Illustrator, & Inventor is a plus
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to listen, remain humble, collaborate, and clearly communicate with teams
    • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
    • Ability to proactively take on additional responsibilities as needed
    • Ability to work well as a part of a team and independently
    • Ability to remain flexible and enjoy learning new software on regular basis
    • Willingness to travel and/or relocate, as both could be required.
