Job description

Sheffield Furniture & Interiors is seeking an experienced residential upholstery sewer or seamstress to create beautiful custom window treatments, draperies and soft goods for our clients. If you're up to the challenge and love helping others succeed, then this position may be a good fit for you. The ideal candidate has sewing machine operation experience, fabric cutting, and pattern making experience. We pride ourselves on recognizing everyone's potential and investing in their future. We are willing to train an individual who does not have experience in all the above areas. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits, which includes health, dental and vision insurance as well as a 401K plan. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Job Scope:
  • Perform drapery construction and alterations according to client specifications
  • Create cushions and bedding according to client specifications
  • Operate sewing machines and other tools to fabricate custom window treatments
  • Measure and cut fabric to ensure accurate sizing and fit
  • Create templates and patterns for custom projects
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Qualifications:
  • This job is best suited for an individual who is good with math and has a good eye for design
  • Cutting fabric accurately, with attention to detail (pattern direction and matching patterns, etc.) and precise measuring is a must
  • Should be well-versed in the different styles and construction of custom window treatments and should also be capable of doing custom drapery
  • This position requires extreme attention to detail, willingness to learn, creativity, and the ability to take direction from others

Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of sewing experience (preferably with draperies, shades, and bedding)
  • Proficient in sewing construction techniques
  • Knowledge of different fabrics and their properties
  • Experience operating sewing machines and other related tools
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with precision
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Physical Demands:
  • Standing for majority of workday
  • Bending, twisting and reaching
  • Lifting 25 lbs occasionally
  • Cutting occasionally
  • Hand-Eye coordination needed
