Job description

Metro Tech Electric, Inc. is rapidly growing in Oklahoma!! We are currently seeking experienced Journeyman Electricians to assist in projects instillations in Oklahoma City and Stillwater, OK.

The successful Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for understanding electrical code through the NEC; Assembling, installing, maintaining, and testing electrical equipment in commercial and industrial settings; and maintaining a safe work environment at all times while working on construction projects as a part of the Metro Tech Electric Team.

Journeyman Electrician Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial settings
  • Prepares work area for installation of equipment.
  • Installs or helps install electrical components.
  • Connects wiring and equipment as per code and job specification.
  • Operates equipment only if trained and certified to operate. (Note: Powder activated tools, and JLG lifts and other operations that may require certification and training before operating).
  • Sets up and operates tools such as hydraulic benders, power threaders, power pullers and cable vacuum systems.
  • Be able to read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings or plans.
  • A proven track record of delivering safe projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effectively coach, mentor, and train Electrical Apprentice(s)
  • Maintains compliance with company policies.
  • Maintains compliance with all OSHA, Company, and customer-specific safety requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

Journeyman Electrician Requirements Skills/Abilities:

  • 4+ years’ experience as a commercial electrician
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
  • Oklahoma (or reciprocal) unlimited Journeyman Licenses
  • Dependable (Attendance and Punctuality)
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Experience and proficiency running electrical conduit with precision expertise
  • Must have layout capabilities
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have a good attitude and be willing to work with other craftsmen
  • Must be hard working and have the drive and determination to complete the task at hand
  • Must be dependable and willing to complete the project at hand from start to finish

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

· Position requires working indoors and outdoors, while being exposed to all elements (Heat, Cold, Wind, Rain, etc.)

· Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring

· Lift up to 50lbs from ground and pull 50lbs of force.

· Fully squat, stoop or kneel for extended periods of time.

· Maintain a standing position for long periods of time while performing repetitive actions

· Comfortable and able to work at various heights. Work off ladders, scissor lifts, booms.

· Able to see colors to discern color-coded wiring.

Schedule:

· Work Schedule: Between the hours of 6 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday. May vary based on customer demands and can include, but is not limited to nights, weekends, and holidays.
