The Training Administrator provides essential operational and administrative support to the Staff Learning & Development function, ensuring seamless coordination, tracking, and delivery of training programs acrossย the Houstonย Zoo. This role managesย logistics, scheduling, communications, compliance tracking, and reporting, serving as the backbone of the Zooโ€™s learning infrastructure. By absorbing high-volume administrative and reactive tasks, the Training Administratorย supportsย strategic learning initiatives aligned with the Zooโ€™s mission, vision, core values, and forthcoming strategic plan. This position plays a critical role in strengthening organizational effectiveness, consistency, and staff development outcomes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:ย 

  • Coordinateย logisticsย for all staff training sessions, including space reservations, room setup and reset, materials preparation, and supplyย managementย ย 
  • Provide reliable administrative infrastructure that enables expanded leadership development, emotional intelligence training, neurodiversity education, and staff development initiativesย 
  • Serve as the first point of contact for training-related questions, schedule changes, and LMS troubleshootingย 
  • Intercept and resolve daily, unplanned administrative training needs to prevent disruption to strategic L&D workย 
  • Maintain organized records, spreadsheets, and documentation related to training compliance and reportingย 
  • Manage training registration, sign-in, attendance tracking, and follow-up documentation within the Learning Management System (LMS)ย 
  • Maintainย accurateย LMS records, including training assignments, completions, and transcript updatesย 
  • Build and manage LMS features such as auto-reminders, surveys, training modules, and reporting toolsย 
  • Run monthly and quarterly compliance and completion reports (e.g., overdue training, completion lists, term/inactive user lists,ย etc)ย 
  • Establish reporting hierarchies and support managers in accessing and understanding LMS reportsย ย 
  • Administer Defensive Driving certification tracking, includingย expirationย monitoring, staff reminders, record maintenance,ย etcย 
  • Manage certification requirements, including continuous training tracking, LMS updates, and manual assignment of required courses to new hiresย 
  • Support large-scale recertification efforts andย maintainย year-round compliance recordsย 
  • Draft and post training announcements, reminders, and updates via internal communication platforms (e.g., Watering Hole)ย 
  • Contributesย to saving animals in the wildย through reductionย of waste, water and energy use andinspiring guests and staff to take wildlife protectingย actions.ย ย 
  • Performs other duties asย assigned.ย 

Education and Experience:ย 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.ย
