Job description

Job Summary

The Sr. Project Manager, Professional Services, will manage multiple large and complex billable projects to time, budget, quality, and contracted deliverables. The PM is a hands-on individual with a combination of business and technical leadership skills. The PM will be responsible for reviewing existing and gathering new customer requirements and translating those into technical solutions to solve business issues. The PM will make a determination of the number and type of team members needed to successfully drive project deliverables. The PM will support the complete PS project life-cycle from inception through customer acceptance. This will include support and/or coordination of technical components of the scope e.g. detailed architectural blueprints, migration plan and configuration, technical transfer of knowledge, etc.   

***This person must be located within a commutable distance of a NetApp office. Only those currently near San Jose, CA; RTP, NC; Boulder, CO; Wichita, KS; NYC, NC; or Waltham, MA will be considered.***

Typical Daily Tasks
  • Lead end-to-end project delivery for complex customer engagements, including project definition, planning, estimating, scheduling, execution, implementation, and successful delivery within scope, budget, quality, and timeline commitments.
  • Manage project financials and governance, including budget tracking, change requests, revenue reporting, invoicing, billing, resource utilization, project setup, time-entry compliance, and adherence to Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Drive customer success and stakeholder engagement by partnering with Services Sales, positioning technical and business solutions, scoping new opportunities, conducting project reviews, and providing executive-level communications, status reporting, dashboards, and presentations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and resource management, identifying and coordinating internal, partner, and customer resources while providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight to project team members and junior project managers.
  • Oversee solution architecture and delivery by leading the design, architecture, implementation, and delivery of large-scale storage and infrastructure solutions while applying project and program management best practices.
  • Manage project risks, dependencies, and operational challenges by proactively identifying risks, implementing mitigation plans, navigating resource constraints, and aligning with customer operational and change management processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement and PMO excellence through adherence to PMO standards, development of professional services best practices, participation in GPMO initiatives, and contribution to new service offerings and business improvement programs.
  • Collaborate across NetApp organizations to optimize service delivery, maximize customer backlog utilization, align project objectives with business goals, and ensure successful execution of strategic professional services initiatives.
Job Requirements
  • PMP preferred
  • Expert spreadsheet capabilities and other project management applications, as required for reporting, project tracking, project checklists, and project scheduling
  • Technical expertise in systems, storage, and data management
  • Ability to work collaboratively with, and to lead and motivate other employees in a team environment to meet aggressive goals and pre-defined timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships in large teams of experts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Some Night and Weekend work required 
Education and Experience
  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 10 years and a Master's degree; or equivalent work experience. 
  • Specific training associated with Project Management is a plus. Typical courses include PMI-sponsored (or equivalent) seminars, webinars, formal courses, etc.  

Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 147,900 - 220,000 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off, various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU's), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies. Benefits may vary by country and region, and further details will be provided as part of the recruitment process.
