Job description

Position Summary:


The Assistant Director assists the WIC Director in planning organizing, staffing, and managing operational and evaluation activities as assigned. 

 


Program Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with recruiting, interviewing, and recommending for hire new staff for the program. 
  • Plans and implements training, including customer service, and provides on-going supervision of staff.
  • Ensures compliance in regards to State/Federal WIC standards and FHCW policies and procedures. 
  • Handles special projects as assigned, and will order supplies/materials for the WIC program. 
  • Monitors WIC operations and reports quality and compliance issues to WIC Director. 
  • Develops performance improvement plan for quality issues with staff and WIC Director. 
  • Ensures appropriate staffing levels by managing time-off requests. 
  • Completes staff evaluations in a timely manner. 
  • Monitors participant eligibility to ensure that quality of site visit results comply with state standards. 
  • Reviews records and reports on participants on an ongoing basis. 
  • Documents, reports, and investigates participant complaints. 
  • Any and all other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements: 

One of the following combinations of education and employment experience must be met in order to be considered for the position: 

Education

Experience

Bachelor’s degree in health, human service or related field preferred. Four years of directly related experience and Associates degree may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree. 


A minimum of 3 years closely related and relevant experience required. Experience in a leadership role or as a supervisor preferred. 







  • Massachusetts Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist or Registered Dietitian preferred. 
  • Prior experience serving participants in a WIC Program preferred. 
  • Bilingual in English and another language appropriate to the health center’s patient population preferred, but not required.
